Vw Golf Mk4 Tail Lights Not Working

No tail lights but the brake lights work fine and it is not the bulbs. I live in the uk and have a 1999 mk4 golf. I noticed that all my brake lights have stopped working.

When grounding test light to light quadrant ground no power to the tail light wire on plug that shows power on the left working tail obviously. To replace the switch on the new brake switches you start with the plunger all the way out. Holding the brake pedal up install the brake switch and turn until it latches. On the wires coming it to the back there is a grey wire on the corner.
